Dear TMSA Parents and Guardians,

Here are your weekly updates for the week of March 1, 2021:

(1) Just a reminder that our staff will be returning to the building tomorrow, Monday, March 1st. We are so excited to see them in person again! Monday will be an asynchronous learning day for our students as all of our teachers and staff get reacclimated to their rooms in the building again.

(2) The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction requires that all 11th grade students take the ACT exam. If you have not taken the ACT for 11th graders, it is required that you plan to test on the Makeup Test Date of March 23, 2021. Please complete the survey by March 9, 2021 indicating your plan for participating in the ACT Makeup Exam.

(3) Homecoming campaigning for nominees will begin tomorrow, March 1st and continue through March 10th. In order to remain on the ballot, those who were nominated MUST create a 2-3 minute video that includes your name, grade, and why your fellow students should vote for you. Videos must be submitted to Mrs. Farmer at by 4pm tomorrow. Thank you to those who have submitted your videos. Students are allowed to campaign via social media platforms, but remember all posts MUST be school appropriate, and ALL CAMPAIGNING MUST BE POSITIVE! The first round of voting will be March 12th.

(4) Seniors! The senior brunch is approaching soon. You do not want to miss this! RSVP with your first and last name. You can register via the senior group page. We can't wait to see you there!

(5) Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Basketball team on an amazing season this year! The girls split the regular season conference as champions, came in 2nd place in the conference tournament and made it to the semifinals in the states. Congratulations to all these student-athletes and their head coach, Coach Bolton.

(6) Congratulations to the FTC Robotics team, as well! They earned a 3rd place win for the motivate award at the North Carolina FTC State Championship this weekend. They placed in the top 20 of the robot runs. At this time, they have not released who will move on to the world competition due to Covid restrictions, but as we learn more, we will definitely keep you posted! Congratulations Coach Megan Williams and to all the students who are involved with this robotics team!

(7) The PSAT 8/9 will be taking place this Tuesday, March 2nd. Students will need to be on campus at 8am in order to start the exam on time. Students may begin to enter the carline no later than 7:30am and they should plan to be on campus for testing for at least 4 hours. Testing will end at 12 noon. Students are encouraged to bring a calculator with them. If they do not have one, then they will be provided one. Remember that face coverings and social distancing protocols will be strictly enforced. If you have any additional questions, please email Ms. Bell at or Mrs. Lassiter at

Thank you and have a great week!
