Dear Parents and Guardians,

Here are your weekly updates for the week of February 8th:

(1) Please make sure that you are receiving and checking your emails. The Central Office sent a reminder today about completing the one question survey which was sent to your email address on file. We are currently continuing remote learning for all grade levels. Please complete one survey per child at TMSA Public Charter Schools by Monday, February 9, 2021, at 9:00 AM. All responses to the survey will be confidential, and only summary data will be shared once the survey is completed. We want to remind you that families will have the choice of remote learning for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year, no matter the circumstances.

(2) The drive through lunch service will continue at the main campus Monday-Friday 11am-1pm.

(3) Spring sports registration is now open to high school parents and students. Spring sports offered will include: High School Boys Baseball, High School Boys Flag Football, High School Boys and Girls Track and Field, High School Girls Softball, and High School Girls Soccer. The registration link on Final Forms can be found under Quick Links on our homepage and will allow us to determine if every sport will be available this spring. The parent playbook is also posted under Quick Links. Once you have registered your child, you will receive an account confirmation email. All forms and required paperwork can be found on Final Forms this year. Mr. Williamson will be holding a Spring Sports Interest Meeting tomorrow, Monday, February 8th at 6:30 pm and again on Wednesday, February 10th at 6:30 pm. The meeting will take place via zoom. Please plan to join one of these important meetings. The zoom link can be found on our calendar and on the flyer attached to your email.

(4) ACT (11th Grade)

On Tuesday, February 23, 2021, TMSA will be participating in the North Carolina statewide administration of the ACT for 11th-grade students. The ACT is designed to measure skills that are most important for success in postsecondary education and that are acquired in secondary education. Juniors are encouraged to take the ACT because exam scores can be used to fulfill test score requirements for the college application and admissions process.

Students who plan on participating in the exam will be required to come to campus and test in-person (face coverings and social distancing protocols will be strictly enforced). Please complete this survey by COB Tuesday, February 9, 2021, indicating your student's plan for participating in this statewide exam administration.

PSAT 8/9 (8th & 9th Graders)

On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, TMSA will administer the PSAT 8/9 to 8th and 9th-grade students. The PSAT 8/9 is an optional exam for TMSA 8th and 9th-graders. It measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills important for success in college. The PSAT 8/9 also measures what you're learning in school and helps determine if you're on track for high school and beyond.

Students who plan on participating in the exam will be required to come to campus and test in-person (face coverings and social distancing protocols will be strictly enforced). Please complete this survey by COB Tuesday, February 16, 2021, indicating your student's plan for participating in this exam administration.

PreACT (10th Grade)

On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, TMSA will be administering the PreACT exam to 10th-grade students. In North Carolina, all 10th-graders take the PreACT. This assessment measures what students have learned in their courses and helps educators identify the information that students still need to learn to succeed in college or a career. The PreACT also simulates the ACT testing experience by providing students early exposure to ACT test-quality questions.

Students who plan on participating in the exam will be required to come to campus and test in-person (face coverings and social distancing protocols will be strictly enforced). Please complete this survey by COB Tuesday, March 9, 2021, indicating your student's plan for participating in this exam administration.

(5) High School Homecoming Court 2021 Kicks off on Monday, February 15th! More details to follow this week!

Thank you and have a great week!
