Mr. BarriosCary, NC - (September 19, 2020) Triad's Spanish Teacher Jose Gregorio Barrios has published his first book, "El Dios Mandingo (The Devil God)."

Based on real-life events, the 104-page Spanish novella is about a criminal that ends up believing that he is a god. The book portrays distinguishing features of magical realism - a literary style that weaves threads of fantasy into a depiction of everyday life.

Venezuela-born Barrios dreamed of becoming the president of Venezuela to eradicate the poverty in the country when he was a kid. "I realized that I did not need to be the president to promote change and justice," said Mr. Barrios. After falling in love with Education in college, he realized that all he needed was a classroom.

A Ph.D. candidate at Argentina's Universidad Nacional de La Plata, M. Barrios wants all students to reach for the stars, and quotes Mark Twain, "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the great ones make you feel that you, too, can become great."

Mr. Barrios has been with TMSA for the last five years. He is married with a son along with two dogs, four fish, and two parakeets.

Congratulations again, Mr. Barrios. It is a privilege to have you at TMSA.
